SOCIAL ASSISTANCE

The Covid 19 Intervention Project was an initiative of STATHS TRUST at the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020.Β  The aim of the project was to identify and offer medical advice/interaction and social assistance in the form of β€œCare Packages’ to those considered at the time to be among the most vulnerable in the extended STATHS community who may need social assistance.Β  No cash was advanced or promises made for other social or economic benefits.
Retired Ancillary staff were identified as the target group to benefit from the pilot phase of the project Picture shows the happy, smiling faces of some of the retired Ancillary Staff who received the β€œCare Packages”
Under the pilot, packages were sponsored by the Chairman of STATHS TRUST, Mr. Barry Johnson. Establishing contacts and delivery of packages was done by retired Vice Principal and Trustee Frank Boyd

Under the leadership of Dr. Gordon, a medical team would ensure that the persons identified have access to the National Health Fund (NHF) benefits and where possible provide repeat prescriptions for medication.Β  Medical consultation to the STATHS community would also be available through Telemedicine where persons may call Dr. Gordon on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays between the hours of 7:30am – 8:30pm.
